Water Theft is on the Rise, Officials Say

Estimates by officials in one town say they will lose 750,000 gallons of water to theft and        
an untold amount of damages to the water system by the end of the year.


Two Men Arrested in Theft of City Water                        
                                                                             
Police Commissioner arrested two men today for tapping into a city water hydrant and stealing     
City water.  The two men were observed pumping water into a company truck from a water
hydrant.  Although the men were charged with theft, the primary point of concern was that
the city's drinking water system had been compromised.  Arbitrary connections such as this by
unauthorized persons make the system vunerable to possible contamination.
